Celebrity Names
But is it enough?

Here are some unusual names that some parents have given their Children during the past few years.

Keira - there have been 6,074 Keiras born in the past five years due to the actress Keira Knightley (Pirates of the Caribbean, Pride and Prejudice and King Arthur.)
Golfing fathers who have hoped that their sons would follow in the steps of a certain Mr Woods with 1,191 naming their boys Tiger.
Gandalf the Wizard in Lord of the rings is also popular according to British birth certificates.
There are six boys called Gandalf. There are also two boys who answer to the name Superman.
There are 36 boys and Girls bearing the first name Arsenal and at least three sets of parents have given their son the names David Beckham and twenty nine have named their child Gazza after the famous footballer Paul Gascoigne.

The names of current, popular, celebrities seems to set the trend for the way some parents name their children. Maybe they think that naming them after somebody famous will help their own child to ‘make it’ in the world as a celebrity themselves?

It seems it is not just parents ‘worshipping’ their children but people are taking to idolising or ‘worshipping’ celebrities. Perhaps they hope it will help them spiritually - maybe bringing them some luck along the way. They seem to think they have nothing else to worship. Worship is the soul’s desire. But they are empty inside. They cling on to celebrities as if they have the answers.

Artists are, by nature, very creative people and often give their children some very ‘creative’ names! Here are some names which celebrities have named their offspring.

We have not added the meanings to these names. Some of them are obvious and some you will have to decide for yourself.

There is a name, which is above all other names - the name of Jesus.
His name means “He will save His people.”
His name is perfectly fitting for that is exactly what he has done.
Jesus suffered and died on the cross for every person named on every list.
But much more than that - he died for us all because he loves us all - no matter who we are – and no matter what we are named. Each one is unique in God’s eyes.
Some amongst us are, or will become, famous. Those will have been given wonderful talent to share - artists, entertainers, dancers, actors, sports stars and musicians.
But each one of – the famous or not-so-famous, must all come face to face one day with God, our Creator.

There is a book in heaven. In it is written the name of every person that ever lived - the great and the good, the famous and the not so famous. But only the names of those that receive Jesus as their Lord and Saviour will remain in that book.
And the question will be asked concerning each one: “Is his name found in the book of life?”

I hope that your name is. I hope you have not have relied on any fame you have acquired along the way, hoping that it will be enough. It will not.

The Bible makes it clear that God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34) - He has no favourites! But the Lord “is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)

We can rely on only one Name - the name of Jesus.
