Memories
by
Ruth BarnesWe cherish many memories
Collected through the years,
Of times we’ve spent together –
Of laughter and of tears. It’s sometimes hard to take it in –
That time has gone so fast.
And what was once the present
Is now the distant past. And what we find especially hard
Is losing those we love
As one by one they leave this scene
To dwell in heav’n above. But are we really losing them,
If God has called them home?
The parting is but temporal,
The loss for time alone. For God is now preparing
In His mansion home a place
For every one who seeks the Lord
And turns to him in faith. So whilst enjoying memories
We look ahead as well,
To when God’s family, complete,
Forever with Him dwell.
