Let not your heart be troubled
by
Ruth Barnes

“Let not your heart be troubled”
Were Jesus’ words of old,
Addressed to his disciples
As his death he foretold.

Yet who would not be troubled
To lose a friend so dear?
No wonder that their hearts were struck
With sadness, doubt and fear.

But death is not forever
And He knew He’d rise again;
The conqueror forever –
The lamb who had been slain.

“Let not your heart be troubled,”
O you who weep and mourn.
Your loved one will be safe in Christ
Until that day shall dawn

When Jesus comes from heaven
And the dead in Christ shall rise,
Then we who are alive on earth
Shall meet them in the skies.

What comfort we can draw from this –
We only part for time,
And those who are the Lord’s shall know
Reunion sublime.

No death, no sorrow, crying, pain –
All these are passed away;
And in those mansions He’s prepared,
It will be endless day.
