We would soon stumble and fall if we were to walk about with our eyes tight shut. We would not fair much better if we narrowed our eyes and just peered out through half-closed eyes. And yet spiritually speaking that is exactly what so many of us do. We do not seem to notice the many dangers which lie around the corner. God's Word instructs to keep a spiritual 'eye' open the whole time: See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise. (Ephesians 5 v 15)
