Money, money, money.... Maybe just the title of a popular song to some, but often the hub of life to others; the very centre about which their lives revolve. Some strive all their lives to get it regardless of what it takes. Isn't it true that some people are paid enormous amounts of money for seemingly very little, while others work long hours and are paid 'peanuts' by comparison! There seems to be no justice! The newspapers often carry stories of people who seem to care more about the amount of money someone has than they do the person. We find that those who are very rich, only ever marry someone else who is rich. Perhaps like a magnet, the money has been the attraction - not the person. But when money takes the place of love, lives are ruined. The possibility of winning an enormous amount of money on the national lottery is a huge attraction, sometimes to people who can ill-afford the cost of the ticket itself. Now, it would seem that we are suggesting that money is the cause of so many problems; but it is not! The problem is the love of money!
The Bible says that "..the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after,
they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."
Jesus said "..It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of an needle, than for a rich man to
enter into the kingdom of God." Jesus wasn't suggesting that God will not receive into His kingdom those that are rich, but that some would find it hard to forsake what they consider to be wealth for what is in fact the greatest wealth - life itself.
