It is impossible to survive or simply exist in this world without being affected by numbers. Our house numbers, telephone numbers, bank account, the level of inflation, unemployment, starving children in the third world.
Everything we deal with in the course of this life is controlled by numbers. In the end it is hard to disagree with the cynic's view that we each have just become statistics - numbers! Sadly, this world seems to be much better suited to deal with numbers than people.

But God views things very differently.
To God you are not just another number, you are a completely unique individual that He loves individually.
When God uses numbers in His Word, the Bible, He does so to show us how much He cares for each one of us.
He says: "For the very hairs of your head are all numbered" (Matthew 10v30)
This is not because He needs to keep any kind of check on us but because He wants to show us that He cares for us down to the smallest detail.
God uses numbers to lead us through His Word and they play an important part for life in God.
Here are a few for you to think about.

One: The number of God the Father - Mark 12 v 29
Two: The number of witness - Luke 10 v 1,2
Three: The number of Father, Son and Holy Spirit - 1 John 5 v 7
Four: The number of the creation (universal) - Isaiah 11 v 12
Five: The number of grace - Matthew 25 v 2
Six: The number of man - Genesis 1 vv 27-31
Seven: The number of completeness - Genesis 2 v2
Eight: The number of resurrection and of new beginnings - the 8th note of a scale is the beginning of a new scale.

God longs for people, (not numbers) to turn to Him, away from sin. By trusting Him implicitly we can be sure that we will spend eternity with Him.

God created the universe and its vast number of stars and planets and He wants to see multitudes of people saved out of this world's numbered system.
