Sometimes scientists have been accused of pushing technology too far -
especially if it is seen to infringe on our privacy. The computer chip has been developed which, if implanted behind the eye, could record a person's every lifetime thought and sensation. BT`s research laboratories call the chip the "Soul Catcher" because of its ability to re-create a dead person's life physically, emotionally and spiritually. The eventual plan would be to inject a newborn baby with a lifetime of experience by implanting the chip. Science might say that there are many benefits that such a chip could offer: A reduction in crime - instead of coaxing confessions out of suspects, the police would only have to plug into the person's chip and evidence would come pouring out. In cases of suspected infidelity a wife or husband could get a court order to plug into a partner's chip to gather evidence for divorce proceedings. An employer could plug into an applicant's chip to see if the applicant has got the right attitude and qualifications when applying for a job. But the Bible teaches that our minds and lives are the work of the One who created us and He alone is able to rightly judge our thoughts and intentions. The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it? I, the Lord, search the heart; I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. Jeremiah 17:9,10 |
