The ocean basins of our present world, since the Flood, are much deeper than those before the Flood, because they now serve as reservoirs for "the waters which were above the firmanent" as well as "the waters which were under the firmanent" (Gen. 1:7).

When "the windows of heaven were opened" by God at the beginning of the Flood year, the vast vapor canopy condensed and collapsed in the form of torrential rains within six weeks (Gen. 7: 11-12).

Then the great mountain ranges rose and the enormous oceanic valleys sank down (Psalm 104:8) so that "the waters returned from off the earth continually" when "the fountains of the deep….were stopped " (Gen 8:2-3)

This did not require millions of years for the waters "fled" and "hasted away…unto the place which thou hast founded for them" (Psalm 104:7-8).

The sign of the rainbow assures us that the oceans will never again cover the earth (Gen 9:8-17; Psalm 104:9; Isaiah 54:9). Therefore, the oceans have at last reached their final resting place.
