Oysters Back to God's World | Back to Fish & Birds Oysters provide us with an exotic, albeit expensive, food. They also yield, in some cases, another item of value - the pearl. Dependant upon size and quality the pearl can be of different values. Some costly, some not so costly - but all of great beauty. The Bible tells us, in Matthews gospel (chapter 13 v 45,46) of a time when Jesus was speaking to his disciples about the kingdom of heaven. Jesus told them a parable to explain: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it. Jesus has sought after each one of us. He considers each one of us to be of great value. So much so that He was prepared to give up all that He had, to purchase us to Himself. Jesus went to the cross at Calvary and died there to pay the ultimate price for us. He gave His life for us. |
