The Rainbow Back to God's World | Back to Heaven When sunlight passes through raindrops it becomes slightly bent. Sunlight is a mixture of colours and as the raindrops bend some colours more than others they are separated out to make what we know as the colours of the rainbow.
When you see a rainbow what does it tell you? Well, of course, that's true.
But the rainbow is far more important than that. When the whole earth had fallen into such a terrible state of sinfulness God had to destroy all that was evil from before Him.
The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God looked upon the earth,
and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, The end
of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them
with the earth. So in the time of Noah, God brought a great flood upon all the earth.
And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth. In the six hundredth year
of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the
great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was upon the earth forty days and
forty nights. But after the flood had abated God restored the earth to a fruitful place for Noah and his family to replenish the earth. And as a sign to Noah and to every generation that would come after him - and right up to this time, God placed the rainbow in the sky as a token of His promise that He would never again destroy the earth by a flood.
And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood;
neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth. |
