Stumbling Blocks to Stepping Stones

Many situations can be turned from stumbling-blocks into stepping-stones and at the same time change some awkward circumstance into something useful.
One such instance happened to William the Conqueror.

As he set foot on English soil at Pevensey in 1066, he stumbled and fell full-length. The Norman Soldiers at once took this to be a bad omen. Not so King William! He immediately got to his feet, grasping in both hands some of the earth on which he had fallen.
“Look!” he cried, holding up the earth “This is a sign that God has delivered this land into my hands!”
With this manipulation of what looked like disaster, William rallied his army and went on to win the Battle of Hastings.

If we commit our lives into God's care we can be sure that our circumstances are in His safe hands. Our stumbling blocks will always be turned to stepping stones!
