The Head
And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. (Colossians 1:18)

The loss of a limb, although often debilitating, is not the end of life. But life simply cannot continue without the head.

The church's position is effectively the same. Jesus Christ the Head, the church the body - totally dependant upon Him and wholly unable to exist without Him.

But, praise the Lord, the body will never be without it's head. If you are a child of God, born again of His Spirit, then you are part of Christ's Body, the church, and Jesus has left you a wonderful assurance for He has said:
"I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." (Hebrew 13:5)
